"For many years Representative Rohrer has worked tirelessly for the total elimination of school property taxes and a restructuring of Pennsylvania’s broken education finance system through the School Property Tax Elimination Act. Representative Rohrer has emphasized that school property tax elimination will be one of the five main planks of his campaign platform and a priority of his administration.
Representative Rohrer’s election as Governor would hugely increase the likelihood of school property tax elimination in a way that we previously could have only imagined. Please strongly consider supporting Representative Rohrer’s candidacy, regardless of your political preference, to help achieve our goal of school property tax elimination. This is a non-partisan request based entirely on advancing the cause we support and is not based in any manner on political philosophy or affiliation."
Shortly after the PTCC’s endorsement announcement the PTCC received this e-mail from a registered Democrat: “Sam's biggest challenge will be the Republican primary. I urge you to call on all of our members to change their registration to Republican if they are not already. That is the only way they will be able to help Sam compete in the Republican primary and if he doesn't get past the primary it's game over. If we can help him win the primary he will be in a much more recognized spot to get his message out for the general election. Regardless of our own personal politics, we must all register or change to Republican simply to be able to vote for Sam in the primary. This is too important not to push.”
This suggestion is not without precedent. In early 2008 many non-Democrats switched their registration to Democrat to have a voice in the Barack Obama – Hillary Clinton primary election and then changed back to their original registration after the election.
If you are not a registered Republican, the PTCC is respectfully requesting that you consider changing your registration to Republican for the May 18, 2010, primary election so you may vote for Representative Rohrer and then change back to your original registration after the election if you so choose.
If you are not a registered Republican, a write-in vote on your party’s ballot WILL NOT be counted towards Representative Rohrer’s nomination for the November general election. You MUST vote as a registered Republican to support Representative Rohrer’s candidacy.
If you are not registered to vote at all, please register! No matter what the election, your vote is important.
REGISTERING TO VOTE OR CHANGING YOUR REGISTRATION IS EASY. Download the voter registration application here, print and complete the form, and mail it to your county’s voter registration office - the address is listed on the form. Please note that the application must be received by your county's voter registration office by April 16, 2010, to be effective for the May, 2010, primary election.
Again, please consider changing your registration for the May primary election to help the movement for school property tax elimination. Your vote for Representative Rohrer will be greatly appreciated and will be a huge help for our cause.
Note that the voter registration form link will download a PDF file. If you cannot view it, you may need to download the Adobe Acrobat Reader or Foxit Reader. The free Acrobat reader is available here. The much smaller and less intrusive free Foxit PDF Reader is available here. These links will open in a new window.
